Create an SMS Campaign
To create your first SMS Campaign you first need to configure your SMS Campaign Settings
To create a new SMS Campaign you first need to go to your Campaign Calendar. Then you can either click the button "New Campaign" or double click a day in the Calendar and an initial popup form will show up. In this popup select "SMS" and in the next step enter the title for the Campaign, the scheduled date for the Campaign and what type you intend to send the Campaign to and then click "Submit".
After clicking the Submit button you will the campaign editor:
Part 1: Starting the Campaign and Creating a Custom View
- Navigate to the Campaigns Calendar page.
- Click the New Campaign button in the top right corner. The SMS Campaign setup window will appear.
- Enter a name for your campaign in the Title field (e.g., "Dormant Leads").
- Click the Send to dropdown menu. Instead of selecting an existing list, click Create a view to build a specific target audience. This will open a new setup panel.
- In the "Create a new view" panel, enter a Name for your custom list (e.g., "Dormant Leads (Limited)").
- Set the Record Type to Lead.
- In the Columns section, check the boxes for the information you want to see in your list (e.g., First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, Source, Pipeline).
- Click the Create View button.
Part 2: Filtering Your Target Audience
Once your view is created, you may need to narrow down the number of leads by applying filters.
- On your newly created view page, click the Filters button.
- Search for and select the property you want to filter by. For example, type Created Date.
- Set the condition, such as Is After, and select your desired date from the calendar. Click Save Filter.
- To add another condition, click Add Filter.
- Search for another property, like Last Activity Date.
- Set the condition, such as Is Before, and select a date. Click Save Filter.
- Verify the total number of leads in your filtered view is correct.
Part 3: Finalizing and Scheduling the Campaign
Return to your SMS Campaign setup window to finish scheduling.
- Click the Send to dropdown again and select the custom view you just created (e.g., "Dormant Leads (Limited)").
- Choose your Payment Method from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Send Date field to select the day and time you want the message to go out.
- Under Type, ensure SMS is selected (or choose MMS if including an image).
- If your message includes URLs, you can toggle on the Shorten Links option.
- Type your message into the Text box. Notice the character count at the bottom to keep track of message segments.
- Once everything is set, click the Schedule button at the bottom right.
- A "Confirm Schedule" pop-up will appear, displaying the approximate total charge for the campaign. Click OK to finalize or Cancel to make changes.
Campaign Editor fields:
- Title: The title of the campaign. Not sent in the SMS.
- Send To: This is the field where you select the List View to which you would like to send the SMS Campaign to.
- Payment Method: The payment method that will be charged when the campaign has been sent
- Send Date: The date and time the campaign will be sent
- Type: They type of the campaign. SMS has more restrictions than MMS and it works based on segments. Basically, each segment of the SMS is limited by a certain amount of characters and SMS do not support images. The price of the SMS type is lower than that of MMS as well.
- Shorten Links: Turning on this setting will automatically shorten any links in the text of the SMS to allow more characters in the text. The links will be valid for 90 days.
- Text: The text of the message
- Unsubscribe Message: The message that will be sent at the end of the text to let receivers know what keyword they should text back to unsubscribe from the list
- Image: If the type of the SMS Campaign is MMS the field is shown and the image will be sent along with the text message
